Several Vanderbilt footballers tested positive for COVID-19, Vanderbilt Athletics confirmed Thursday.

Several Vanderbilt footballers tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday, Vanderbilt athletics confirmed to The Hustler. The number of positive COVID-19 tests among footballers is not yet known.
Chris Lee of VandySports.com first report that there were positive tests and that the practice of Friday morning was canceled. Vanderbilt has not yet confirmed the cancellation.
A Vanderbilt spokesman made the following statement to The Hustler:
“As part of our ongoing test procedures, we are made aware of positive COVID-19 test results in our football program. We follow university protocols and work closely with our Command Center for Public Health and other health officials who assess potential close contacts and advise on additional steps. Due to applicable federal student privacy law, we are unable to disclose personally identifiable information about any student who has tested positive for COVID-19. ”
Coach Derek Mason and first-year defensive coordinator Ted Roof were previously scheduled to address the media at 12:30 p.m. CT. Vanderbilt Athletics sent an email to logged-in media CT at 11:41 stating that the press conference had been postponed.
