The state broadcaster CCTV reported that seven other people were also injured in the attack in the city of Kaiyun in Liaoning province.
A suspect named Young has been arrested and police are investigating the case, the Kaiyuan Municipal Public Security Bureau said in a statement.
Police did not specify the motive for the attack, or details of the suspect or casualties. The police officer who helped apprehend the suspect is also among the injured, CCTV reported.
A video posted by the government-run Beijing News on Chinese social media showed two police officers – one of whom was wielding a broom – confronting the suspect and knocking him to the ground.

Knife attacks in public are not uncommon in China.

In June, 37 children and two adults were injured by a knife attack at an elementary school in southwestern Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
October In October 2018, a woman stabbing at least 14 children in the kitchen of a kindergarten in Chongqing city.

In April 2018, nine students were killed at a middle school in Shanxi Province by a 28-year-old man who was later sentenced to death.

In 2017, 11 students were injured when a man attacked them with a knife on the wall of a kindergarten.

But, perhaps the highest number of knife attacks occurred in 2010, which lasted for three consecutive days, during which the attackers targeted schools. China’s Ministry of Education responded to those programs by ordering schools to strengthen security and ban strangers from entering campus.
