The Fall Guys saga has been great, yet also terrifying over the course of this past week. The game has gone live on PC and PS4, and now that the floods have opened there is … constant flooding, causing massive server problems from left and right.
Everyone wants to play Fall Guys. It’s one of the most popular games on Twitch, if it works, and it made it in the top 5 Steam games of the weekend, despite a ton of downtime from the server.
The problem is that Fall Guys, understandably, completely underestimated his own potential success. This is by far the most popular game developer Mediatonic has ever made (previously responsible for things like the Gear Pop! Game or the Hatoful Boyfriend remake), and it’s probably the most popular for publisher Devolver Digital as well, at least when we talk about it. competing players. In short, no one expected the full volume of the game it was experiencing.
Fall Guys reinforces the blows with one of the hottest social media account brands I’ve ever seen, and the main account has non-stop sad apologies tweeted about the server issues, as it’s one of the real fun characters of the game that gives you the bad news.
There is also a separate account called the Fall Guys Server Owl that does nothing mar tweet about server updates, which was apparently formed due to so many questions about the state of the game. It has garnered 123,000 followers in just over four days.
The latest update? Fall Guys says it was secretly switched on the servers without prompting them to try to help alleviate the problems, but even if they try to be sly and do so, hundreds of thousands of people will succeed anyway. hope. Of course, to a certain extent it is absolutely great news that so many people want to play your game that it shatters your servers. And yet, there may be a line where if the game wrestles too hard for too long, players who have otherwise remained addicted will run away because it’s too frustrating. But overall, an overload of interest is what we call one of those ‘good problems’.
The long and short that this is a small team with infrastructure in place that was never meant to support Fortnite levels of interest, and they are doing their best.
