Scores of people had to adapt to virtual meetings during the pandemic, including U.S. lawmakers.

The U.S. Senate convened a virtual hearing on Friday to testify about the testimony of U.S. Postal Service Postmaster General Louis DeJoy, who is in the spotlight about sweeping changes he has made that could affect post-in votes in the upcoming presidential election. When Democratic Sen. Tom Carper of Delaware tried to speak, he appeared to believe he was dumbfounded when he expressed frustration with the Webex video conferencing software.

“F —, f —, f —!” Carper can be said to be saying in a video. He then called someone in to help with the problem.

The senator later posted a tweet saying few things “fired him more than protecting the Postal Service!”

Lawmakers pressed ahead of the hearing to question DeJoy about the controversy that has arisen over his handling of the Postal Service.

DeJoy, a major donor to the Republican Party, announced new operational changes to the agency, which fought well for the COVID-19 pandemic. The changes included limiting how many employees could work overtime and eliminating e-mail sorting machines, two factors that would be crucial to processing the expected influx of post-in ballot papers in the November election. Last week, President Donald Trump acknowledged that he intended to withhold funding from USPS to sabotage post-vote.

DeJoy said on Tuesday after pressure that he would stop making significant changes until after the election.
