See the International Space Station in the skies and 3 planets tonight Lehig Valley Regional News

We had a record-setting atmosphere in Lehi Valley on Sunday morning: 36 below.

But, this cool climate also brings great stargazing conditions.

Record Set Cold September 2020

A new record law has been set at Lehigh Valley Airport.

Cold air is always dry air, and our air is drier right now – the driest of the month.

When the air is dry, the stars and planets seem more dynamic – they really pop.

The lights have a hard time traveling through the humid air, so the skies start to look really nice when we lose the humid summer weather.

When the sunset is at seven o’clock, go out at 8:15 in the morning to see:

Jupiter and Saturn The south will be in the sky, and they will be next to each other. They will be somewhat lower in the sky. They set around 1 o’clock (dip below the horizon).

Night Sky 20 Sept.

Look for Jupiter and Saturn in the southern sky.

Mars Is spectacular. It’s the biggest object in the night sky, and it’s bright. You will definitely see its orange color. It is low in the southern sky.

Night Sky September 2020 Tue.

Mars is in the southern sky.

International Space Station It will pass over us for four minutes at 8:19 p.m. It will first appear in the northwest sky in the west. After that, it will travel low in the sky to the north-east horizon. Before it reaches the horizon, it will suddenly disappear.

The International Space Station passes more than 20 September

Look for the International Space Station. It will look like an airplane.

We can see the International Space Station because it reflects sunlight. It suddenly disappears because it has no more sunlight to reflect: it turned into the shadow of the earth.

The International Space Station will look like an airplane flying in the sky. It will have a smooth, steady motion.

If you want to see it, get out at about 8:10 p.m. The exact time is one or two minutes different from 8:19 a.m. depending on how far north you live in the state.

The moon Only in the night sky at sunset for a few hours. It will set at 9pm on Sunday and Monday, so the sky will be very dark around 10pm

The moon will be crescent-shaped because we had a new moon last week. You’ll see it later this week.

Recording-setting cold weather for the last while
