As the Washington NFL team continues its ongoing process of choosing a new nickname, fans continue to release several potential new names.
However, on Wednesday, a name rose to fame that had not received much attention before: the Sentinels. Why? Because someone on Reddit noticed that the company that registered and runs Redskins.com recently also registered DCSentinels.com.
For those who expect the name to be Sentinels, don’t hold your breath; ESPN’s John Keim closed any notions of that happening.
However, if Washington changed its mind and followed this route, the team would have a fictional logo and design to consider. The Washington Sentinels was the name of the football team in the movie. The replacements.
In the film, the Sentinels sported a red, white, and blue color scheme, similar to those of the New England Patriots. Actor Keanu Reeves played the role of Shane Falco, the star quarterback.

However, Washington probably wouldn’t follow this trend if they became the Sentinels, because the team will stick with the beloved burgundy and gold color scheme.
Below is what the Washington Sentinel logo looked like on the film.

While it’s pretty boring, there are a few features the team could adopt when making a more modern design.
So while Sentinels doesn’t seem like a likely choice for Washington’s new name, it could be cool to see a team of movies come true.
