Sedgwick County Chief Health Officer to Issue Bar Closure Orders Limiting Meetings to 15 or Less

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – The local Sedgwick County Health Officer will issue an order Tuesday that would establish further restrictions to reduce the county’s COVID-19 numbers.

At the county commission workshop on Tuesday, Dr. Garold Minns said his order:

  • Close bars and clubs.
  • Food and beverage establishments close at 10 pm
  • Cancel all fairs, parades and festivals.
  • Limit mass meetings to 15 or less
  • Ban places with an excess capacity of 2,000 or more.
  • Require businesses to impose six feet on non-household customers

Dr. Minns said the order would not affect schools, licensed day care centers, summer camps, or religious institutions. It would also run concurrently with the county’s current mask order that runs through August 9.

Once the order is issued, county commissioners may modify the order or leave it standing. County commissioners can take the order at their regularly scheduled meeting on Wednesday.
