Secretlab’s gaming chairs can now be packaged in a low-key SoftWeave black fabric

If you want a comfortable chair with a low-profile design that does not break the bench, Secretlab’s gaming chairs are generally matched (even by a few Edge writers who have one) as a worthy purchase. And now the lineup of chairs from 2020, consisting of the Omega, Titan, and Titan XL, can be decorated in a minimalist black color called SoftWeave black. Although these chairs already look more subtle than most other options on the market, they do still looks something like something ripped out of a race car, so the new color option helps.

According to Secretlab, this new color is “coated in a custom tricolor fabric with three different shades of black.” It is worth noting that the fabric is quite similar to the existing charcoal variant, although it is definitely a bit darker. What sells this new color to me about the charcoal option is that it closes the giant blue logo in the back of the chair with a subtler black one.

That you know, SoftWeave is the company’s breathable fabric that you can choose to wrap its chairs in when you buy one. It is the step-up option in cost over the Prime 2.0 polyurethane-coated leather that it uses in the base model, but it is well below the cost required to add what the NAPA leather calls. The primary downside to this darker look is that it costs $ 30 more than other SoftWeave color options available for each seat, so it’s $ 409 for the Omega, $ 459 for the Titan, and $ 529 for the Titan XL with this fabric added. It can also be a little harder to clean than leather.

I have not seen this chair in person, but the images make the black SoftWeave fairway seem like an appealing option if you do not have $ 1,500 to buy Logitech and Herman Miller’s $ 1,500 Embody gaming chair. In the case of Secretlab, it’s nice that there’s a cool option available that you know does not cost as much as a high-end gaming PC.
