Secretary of State of Michigan Gretchen Whitmer met with Biden in VP selection process

This is the first known meeting between Biden and a candidate for vice presidencies.

Former Vice President Joe Biden’s former presidential nominee seems to be entering the final stages as the presumptive Democratic nominee has begun conducting interviews with potential candidates.

A source familiar with the veteran process confirms that the former vice president met with Michigan Gov. last Sunday. Gretchen Whitmer, marking the first known meeting between Biden and a candidate for vice president.

Flight records show a private plane left Lansing’s Capital Region Airport last Sunday night and arrived at Delaware Coastal Airport – about 30 minutes from Biden’s beach house in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. A late flight returned to Lansing later that evening.

Biden has met with at least one other candidate, the source confirmed, but did not give further details about who the meeting was with than when it took place.

When a spokesman for the Biden campaign was asked for comment on the meeting with the governor of Michigan, a spokesman declined to comment.

A Whitmer spokesman also declined to comment on the report, telling ABC News “We do not discuss the governor’s personal schedule.”

Speculation about who Biden will choose to serve as his running mate has hit a chord when his search for vice presidencies begins in what is likely to be the past week, with the Democratic National Convention fast approaching.

The former vice president revealed that he had some fun on Saturday afternoon with the intense anticipation of his decision, just kidding tell a male reporter that he had made up his mind and had chosen the reporter as his running mate.

Biden committed himself to choosing a female running mate during the final Democratic primary debate in March and has had to deal with pressure to choose a woman of color to join him on the ticket in the entire process of checking . That pressure follows a campaign-revolting win in South Carolina, in part because of strong support from African-American voters and has been fueled by national protests over racial inequality in the wake of the death of George Floyd, who in May in Minneapolis police was killed. .

While several deadlines have been set by Biden over his announcement of the vice presidency have come and gone, Biden has consistently promised to have a decision for the convention, which is now set to hold an almost completely virtual event from August 17 until August 20th.

Biden’s campaign also seems to be suddenly awaiting his decision, already promoting a joint grassroots fundraiser with Biden and his vice president, once she is announced. No date or time has been set for the event.
