Seattle Seahawks guard Chance Warmack retires from 2020 NFL season

Chance Warmack, a former first-round draft pick, withdrew from the 2019 NFL season to recover and return to play, but now with the COVID-19 pandemic that plagues the United States, he will not participate in the 2020 season.

Mike Garofalo reported Monday that Warmack is the last NFL player to have voluntarily chosen to exit this season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Warmack was signed by the Seahawks with the intention of competing for a place on the list in the guard position, with Mike Iupati and Damien Lewis as suspected starters. Originally drafted by the Tennessee Titans, Warmack last played for the Philadelphia Eagles and had more special team snapshots than offensive snapshots in 2018.

According to Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times, although Warmack was not considered a high-risk individual for contracting COVID-19, he has had people close to him who contract the virus, and if he returns to the NFL it will be in 2021.He will receive a stipend of $ 150,000 from The league and his contract will take effect next year, making him a Seahawk.

Other players who have been excluded so far are Baltimore Ravens WR De’Anthony Thomas and Kansas City Chiefs guard Laurent Duvernay-Tardif, who has been on the front line of this pandemic as a doctor.
