Seattle Seahawks denies RB Anthony Jones and CB Brian Allen

The Seahawks opened a few roster spots Monday afternoon, awaiting Anthony Jones and cornerback Brian Allen, the team announced.

Jones, a former FIU tailback, was signed as UDFA after the 2020 NFL Draft. The 5’10 “, 215-pound runner totaled more than 2,000 yards as a colleague, while sustaining injuries in a shooting.

Jones was one of two running backs to be signed by Seattle after the draft, along with Patrick Carr. Both players have now been released, with Carr and the Seahawks sharing ways in the initial cut from 90 to 80.

Allen, a fifth-round pick from the Steelers in 2017, spent the majority of last season on the Seattle practice team. At 6’3 “and 215 pounds, Allen certainly looked back on the part of a Seahawks corner. However, he may have been the victim of the bare figures at the position. Even after saying goodbye to Allen, Seattle has 11 corners on the roster – with most on the periphery younger than Allen (who will be 27 on October).

With the Seahawks whose Jones and Allen, and John Ursua placed on the reserve / COVID list on Sunday, the team has three open roster spots.
