“Big Brother” will return this summer with a star cast for Season 22 … damn the coronavirus pandemic.
Every year “Big Brother” is fired during the summer, but due to COVID-19, there was a lot of speculation that ‘BB’ would be another victim of the virus … but we have learned that the reality show is still ON.
Production sources tell TMZ … “Big Brother” was in the middle of casting for his next season when the coronavirus outbreak came. We were told that the casting was closed entirely in May, leaving the executives to change the format to an All-Star edition.
Our sources say an All-Star cast made more sense, because those contestants are already familiar with the show and have already been vetted by network executives … moreover, it would have been difficult to cast new faces for a new season in the in the middle of a pandemic, a process that, we are told, would have lasted for weeks.
The coronavirus doesn’t prevent another season, but it’s slowing things down a bit … contestants were due to head to Los Angeles in early July to begin testing and quarantines, but the schedule is being delayed by the end of month.
Our sources say the contestants, who are flying from across the country, will be screened for the virus and then quarantined for 2 weeks before being cleared to enter the “Big Brother” house.
It should be easy to navigate once the contestants are in the house … it was a bubble atmosphere long before COVID-19.
