Sean McDermott: “Ridiculous” to have inconsistent policies about fans in stadiums

The Dolphins announced Monday that they plan to have fans at Hard Rock Stadium when they face the Bills in Week Two of the regular season.

It’s not clear at this point whether this will be the first time the Bills will play for fans. The team said in July that they were hoping to have fans in what is now called Bills Stadium, but current rules in their New York area do not allow that.

On Monday, head coach Sean McDermott was asked about fans in the stands and shares his belief that all teams should operate under the same set of rules when it comes to being fans this season.

‘It’s what it is. We master something we can master, ”Said McDermott, via Jon Scott of Spectrum News Buffalo. ‘I think it’s honestly ridiculous that on the surface there seems to be some playing field that there is, inconsistent across the whole league with the various outdoor stadiums. But it’s what it is. We control what we control. That should be our thoughts and that we adapt. ”

Wytsingen head coach Mike Zimmer shared a similar sentiment last week, saying the NFL’s current approach will lead to competitive disadvantages for teams over the course of the season. Both comments from no coach seem to influence the league’s plans to move forward under the current regime.
