Seahawks hold the door a bit for chance that fans can attend 49ers game

The 49ers are likely to bring some fresh faces to the training camp.

San Francisco did not stop with wide receiver Jarron Brown, and also added an offensive lineman and a few defenders on Wednesday, according to multiple reports.

Brown, offensive lineman Hroniss Grasu, safety Johnathan Cyprien and advanced rookie safety / linebacker Evan Foster will be eligible to take the field Thursday, according to Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area.

The 49ers’ signings came within days of injuries hitting San Francisco’s secondary and offensive line. K’Waun Williams apparently has a grade 1 calf strain, and center Ben Garland injured his ankle on Tuesday.

Cyprien is the most accomplished name the 49ers bring to mind. The 27-year-old has played 75 career games, but he only appeared in five last season with the Philadelphia Eagles and Atlanta Falcons. Cyprien, a pick in the second round of 2013 by the Jacksonville Jaguars, followed a season-ending foot injury in 2019 and missed the entire 2018 season with a torn ACL. He has not played in 16 games since 2016.

Foster also treated injuries in 2019, learning after the Syracuse season that he had sustained a small tear in his body. He still played in all 12 games of the Orange last season, finishing third on the team with 76 total tackles. Foster was a three-year starter under coach Dino Babers, helping Syracuse lead its first 10-win season since 1992 back in 2018.

Grasu has meanwhile played 18 NFL games in parts of four seasons with the Chicago Bears and Baltimore Ravens. He played just one snap in 2019, but Grasu’s experience as a center will enable him to deputize Daniel Brunskill in Garland’s absence.

We’ll have a better idea of how Brown, Cyprien, Foster and Grasu fit into their respective positions as the 49ers practice on Thursday.
