Here is a list of California counties that were on the state’s coronavirus watch list as of July 17. Schools in these counties, which are badly affected by the coronavirus, should start fall classes that teach students remotely online, rather than allowing them to return to classrooms, according to Governor Gavin Newsom.
Schools can start teaching in classrooms only when the county is off the watchlist for 14 days. Thirty-two of California’s 58 counties are on the list, according to Newsom, who revealed a set of rules that determine when students can return to classrooms and the steps schools must take to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and treat any case that occur.
Newsom made it clear Friday that the online teaching requirement in watchlist counties is a mandate, not a suggestion. It applies to private and public schools.
