Santa Clara, Napa Counties More Restrictive Reopening Tires – NBC May Move to Area Two

The state says Santa Clara and Napa counties could be moved to more restricted levels next week as the number of Covid-1 cases in the Gulf increases.

Dan Holder, owner of Jack Holder Restaurant & Bar in San Jose, is awaiting orders to close indoor dining again.

“It’s frustrating, but it’s not surprising,” Holder said. “We’ve seen this kind of coming. We’ve been seeing trends over the last two weeks. The surrounding counties are starting to close on us. We’re now ready for the next step, whatever.”

Santa Clara County has recently seen a surge in COVID-19 cases, with 358 reported on Sunday. Also ready to be hospitalized.

Health leaders also say the number of newly registered cases is higher in East San Jose and Gilroy.

To help slow the spread, County COVID-19 is increasing its response to public complaints about businesses violating health orders.

Most businesses receive a warning, fix the problem in a few days and avoid penalties.

But if they don’t, there are other options. The county, for example, has fined Calvary Chapel San Jose more than 350 350,000 for continuing to violate health orders by the church.

“We take it very seriously,” said Beatrice Santiago, lead of Santa Clara County’s compliance unit. “This could be a zero-grace period, so automatic penalties will be assessed.”

The county has also gone to court to seek a temporary restraining order to prevent the church from seizing large indoor services.
