Santa Barbara County exploration options for the expansion of the Convid-19 test; 19 new cases reported | Corona virus crisis

The Santa Barbara County Department of Public Health on Thursday announced efforts to find alternatives to the expansion of COVID-19 testing capacity on the South Coast.

“We are actively working to ensure that the test is available in the countywide,” Van Do-Renoso, director of public health, told a news conference.

“Other options for increasing testing capacity in South County are being considered by public health officials,” said Dr. Health-Renoso.

He acknowledged that getting an appointment at the state-run COVID-19 test site in Goletta was “somewhat challenging”.

His comments came shortly after county officials encouraged all individuals to be tested, and the demand for coronavirus testing increased the availability of appointment online at a state-run site in Goletta.

A few weeks ago, California officials acknowledged that sites in many counties were booked weeks in advance. This made it difficult for community members to get a “more immediate appointment,” Dr. Renoso said. “As a result, they changed the reservation system and released a few weeks at a time.”

Other testing sites are available in the county. Du-Renoso said the state-run Covid-19 test site is one of many places where you can be tested.

Public health officials advise calling the test site before arriving for an appointment.

Should anyone experience illness or symptoms of COVID-19, county public health officials are urging residents to reach out to their health care provider for guidance and testing access.

Gov. Gavin Newsme approved the Family First Act, which would cover all medically necessary COVID-19 related care costs, including testing, Dr. Gov-Renoso said.

Those who do not have a health care provider are encouraged to visit the county’s public health department site, “Dr. Renoso said,” to see if you are fit to care for someone in our clinics.

Div-Renoso said the Covid-1 test is a “complex tool” that helps public health officials understand the spread of the virus in the community, adding that testing is at the heart of our comprehensive strategy to put the virus in the box. The onset of the COVID-19 epidemic.

“The importance of testing is that we know the prevalence of COVID in our community, and our ability to help those affected cannot be adequately outlined,” Dr. Renoso said. “The state has shown us this time and place by tying direct test rates on more allowances to reopen.”

19 new cases of COVID-19 were reported Thursday in Santa Barbara County.

With seven people in the civil-care unit, the number of hospital admissions for COVID-19 patients has dropped to 28. The number of COVID-19 ICU patients on Thursday was the lowest since the end of March.

As of Thursday, the county had a total of 109 deaths, 106 in the community and three in the Lompok federal prison complex.

The number of active cases dropped from 179 the previous day to 172, and the county’s total increased to 8,803, including COVID-19 cases. Of the 1,116 test results received the previous day, 1.7 percent were positive in the county.

Seven of the new cases were in Isla Vista, and four cases were reported in Santa Barbara, Santa Maria and Lompok.

Santa Barbara County is on a broad (purple) level, with a 9.1 case rate per 100,000 residents, Do-Renso said. Purple-colored counts have more than seven new cases per 100,000 inhabitants, or a test positivity rate of more than 8 percent in seven days.

Aug Gust. Sep0 to Sept. During Between, an average of nine new COVID-19 cases are reported every day, said Dr. Renoso.

“This means that there was an increase of about six new cases a day compared to the previous rating period,” said Dr. Renoso.

The state system has four color-coded tires and evaluates counties weekly, with reports scheduled every Tuesday. The new level report allows for changes in sectors, schools and activities in California counties.

In order to get into the red tire and account for any adjustment factors, Dr. Renoso said, the county should reduce its daily new cases to less than 31.

“By completing this goal in two weeks, we will be able to reach the red level,” de Do-Renoso said.

Also on Thursday, county public health officials stressed the importance of the flu vaccine. The flu is essential to keep the community healthy during the SWID-19 epidemic, according to Page Bateson, director of the Department of Public Health’s Department of Disease Control and Prevention.

Batson said it is recommended to get a flu shot every year, but “this season, due to the COVID-19 epidemic, getting the flu vaccine is especially important to protect yourself, your family and your community.”

Last year, nine people “over the age of 65” died of the flu in Santa Barbara County, Bates said.

Health providers are taking extra precautions to ensure patient safety amid the COVID-19 epidemic, Bates said.

Her clear message was – “We urge you not to wait. The vaccine.
