San Francisco 49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo, RB Rahim Return to Mostert Practice

Santa Clara, California. – The early backfield of the San Francisco 49ers returned to early Wednesday, with quarterbacks Jimmy Garoppolo and Rahim Mostert practicing for the first time since leaving with injuries in Week 2.

Geropolo and Mustart practiced on a limited basis on Wednesday and their position for Sunday’s game against the Miami Dolphins is not yet clear, it was the first and positive step in the right direction for both players.

Earlier this week, Niners coach Kyle Shanahn said he was not sure if Geropolo would practice this week, but he wanted to see where he was on Wednesday before making a decision. The team held a walkthrough early on Wednesday that encouraged Garoppolo enough to gain some prestige in practice and made Shanahan more optimistic that he could play on Sunday.

“He did well in the walkthrough and we’ll see how he goes,” Shanah said. “But we’ll throw him there today and he’ll at least give me an opinion.”

Geroppolo has been ruled out after suffering a right ankle sprain at the start of Week 2’s win over the New York Jets. He hadn’t practiced any of the last two weeks since Nick Mulens set foot in the starting job.

Mulens led the Ers ers to a win over the New York Giants over Week Week, but the Philadelphia Eagles struggled last week in a losing streak, dropping two interceptions and losing a blur that eventually led to his benching. CJ Beathard replaced Mullens and almost returned to last-second against the Eagles.

Should Geropolo be unable to play this week, Shanah said he has made a decision on whether Mul Lens or Beathard will start in his place, although he did not want to reveal it yet. “I’ll catch up because there’s a difference between them and if Jimmy can’t go, I’ll find him in Miami on Sunday,” Shanah said. “But I’ve decided that. If Jimmy doesn’t go, we both have to be ready, because if Jimmy doesn’t go, we both have to be ready.”

On Monday, Shanah hinted that he was not so optimistic that the Mostert (spider’s knee) would be available against the Dolphins but Mostert at least participated in the practice, which means he is getting closer to a return.

In addition to Garoppolo and Mustart, linebacker Dre Greenla (quadriceps), cornbuck ahkelo witherpoon (hamstring) and receivers Dente pattis (knee) and Trent Taylor (ankle) were also limited on Wednesday. Safety Jimmy and Ward (wrist), Cornback’s Emanuel Moseley (Cunnage and Cornback’s Donta Johnson) did not participate.

For Cornwack Richard Sherman, who qualifies to return this week from a short-term injury reserve with a stressful calf, Shanah hinted that the Ninners are likely to open his practice window for at least another week, against which he looks to play in Week 6. Los Angeles Rams.

“He hoped he could get back into practice this week.” “Yesterday and seeing its contents, we’ll hold it a little longer. I hope it improves and I hope it will be ready next week. I’ll be surprised if it is found. Later this week.”

Shanah also confirmed that defensive end Nick Bosa and defensive facing Solomon Thomas both underwent his surgeries to repair his torn left cruciate ligament. Both players will miss the rest of the season.
