Samuel L. Jackson is currently set to reprise the role of Nick Fury in the new Marvel series of developments on Disney Plus, Diversity Learned exclusively from sources.
The exact plot details of the show are being kept under wraps, but multiple sources say the Jackson Star is written and co-produced with Kyle Bradstreet. Like other Disney Plus Marvel shows, Marvel Studios will also create.
Representatives for Jackson, Bradstreet and Disney did not immediately respond DiversityRequest for comment.
Jackson famously featured Fury in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, returning to the post-credit scene of the first “Iron Man” film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2008. He has since appeared in several films within MCU, most recently featuring Fury in “Spider-Man: Away from Home,” “Avengers: Endgame,” and “Captain Marvel.” He also played the character in two episodes of the ABC series “Schilt’s Agents”. Spoiler alert: The last time fans saw Fury was in the post-credit scene of “Away From Home”, where he was aboard a screw ship somewhere in deep space.
Jackson is one of the most iconic actors of modern times. He is best known for his continued collaborations with Quentin Tarantino, most notably for his performance in “Pulp Fiction” at Jackson’s Oscars. The two have worked together in films such as “Jackie Brown,” “The Hatful Eight,” and “Jango Unchain.” He has also acted in several films with Spike Lee, including “Do the Right Thing,” “School Dose,” “Moe’s Better Blues,” “Jungle Fever,” and “Chi-Rock.”
Jackson is also known for his roles in films such as the Star Wars prequel trilogy, “Sapna Plain”, “Unbreakable” and the recent follow-up “Glass” and “Coach Carter”. The Nick Fury series will mark the first regular television role of his career.
He has been re-positioned by ICM, Anonymous Materials and Jacova Austen Tyrman.
Bradstreet recently worked as a writer and executive producer on the Emmy-winning USA Network series. Robot. His other credits include “Borgia,” “Berlin Station,” and “Copper.”
He has been re-admitted by the UTA.
Should the project go into the series – which seems very likely – it will be the latest big budget Marvel show to get Lilizandi on Disney Plus from Kevin Fijian’s Marvel Studios. Vandavision is set to hit the 2021 deck later this year with “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” and “Loki”.
