Samsung’s Premier 4K laser projector is now available, starting at $ 3,499

Samsung’s 4K laser projector, built as an alternative to its high-end QLED TV, the Premier, is now available to order. There are two models: the $ 3,499 LSP7T that gives you a 120-inch projection, and, the, 6,499 which is the LSP9T that goes up to 130-inches. Samsung describes both as “ultra short throw” projectors, meaning you get a large projection size even when the unit is placed directly in front of your wall or screen.

Maximum projection size is not the only thing that separates two projectors. Compared to the 2,200 ANSI lumens of the cheaper model, the LSP9T is brighter than the 2,800 ANSI lumens. This clearly means that it provides a brighter image, but it also means that its image should be clearer when there are more ambient lights in the room. The more expensive LSP9T also has a 30-watt, 4.2-channel audio dio system for the LSP7T compared to the 2.2-channel setup.

The projector is the first to support the HDR 10+ standard.

Otherwise the two projectors share too many specs. Both are powered by the same Tizen operating system as Samsung’s TVs and both can be controlled by Alexa and Bixby and voice assistants. They are both laser projectors, which should mean that their light source will last longer than the bulbs used in traditional projectors. Samsung also announces the premiere as the first projector to support the HDR10 +, however, the format has not been widely adopted as other HDR standards such as Dolby Vision.

Both projectors are available for ordering starting today on Samsung’s website. The site notes that shipping is expected by October 16th.
