It’s an open secret that Samsung plans to release a Galaxy S20 Fan Edition. And while you may be fiddling with the name (why would a fan of the Galaxy S20 want a slightly inferior, cheaper version?), The intention is certainly good: a slightly less flashy version of the handset to make price-conscious customers more affordable give option.
Now OnLeaks and Pricebaba have joined forces to produce returns of what the new handset will look like. OnLeaks – a trusted tipster responsible for accurately anticipating features of more phones than we can count – has some predictions for the S20 Fan Edition. Based on what we have seen, this device could give the entry level iPhone 12 some competition.
We’ll apparently get a slightly larger 6.4-inch device, with plenty of the things that made the S20 such a joy to use, including a Snapdragon 865 chip and a 120Hz screen for super-smooth scrolling.
But since this phone will be a lower price, you would expect some trade-offs. For one, it seems that the 12GB RAM is reduced to 6GB or 8GB. That’s still enough, but the other big change will likely be to switch from glass to plastic, similar to the normal Galaxy Note 20.
The report also leans on leaker’s work to fill in details about the camera array. The Galaxy S20 Fan Edition will presumably include a 12MP Sony IMX555 primary camera, supported by a 12MP ultra-wide lens and an 8MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. The report mentions an impressive-sounding 4,500mAh battery.
Lastly, we have the color options for the Galaxy S20 FE. You can apparently choose from options of red, white, green and orange, although it will likely differ by brand.
The Galaxy S20 Fan Edition has some advantages over the entry-level iPhone 12 based on above leaks. You get a larger display (6.4 inches vs 5.4 inches), a telephoto zoom camera and a smoother display of 120Hz refresh rate. And while the iPhone 12’s A14 Bionic processor should be much faster, the S20 FE seems like a decent value that is promising.
It all sounds pretty promising. The S20 Fan Edition is expected to cost around $ 750, which would be $ 250 less than the normal Galaxy S20. But it remains to be seen whether Samsung will release this handset in the US
