Listening to wireless earbuds is a great way to stay energized when you’re on the go, but what happens if your buttons get a little too hot to handle? And I’m not talking about a beat that’s fire – users of multiple Samsung earbuds, including Galaxy Buds and the new Galaxy Buds Live, report that using the buttons in hotter conditions makes them annoyingly useless in a matter of just minutes.
The trouble begins when the earbuds are exposed to direct sunlight. After only a few minutes, the buds begin to beep continuously, and will not stop until they are removed from the sun’s rays and cool down. Users say that this tends to happen when temperatures outside the temperature range are in the 90 ° to 100 ° F range, which is a lot every day during the summer in some regions.
I have never encountered reports of earbuds overheating this faster than this often. It would be one thing if customers knew why this happened. But there are no clear warnings telling wearers that the product is going too far; the earbuds will just beep constantly until they cool down. This can make them effectively useless to people living in warmer climates.
We loved the Galaxy Buds Live, but when summers get hot where you live and you’re someone who takes walks, jogs, or just spends time waiting at the bus stop, you might want to think twice about the earbuds of Samsung. There are many other buttons in the galaxy, and you can see some of our favorites here.
We have reached out to Samsung for comment and will update this post as we get more information to share.
