In a video message titled ‘We Love You Eddie’ by former partner and friend Eddie Van Halen, former Van Halen duo Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony have shared their thoughts.
Speaking in a video recorded on October 7 after rehearsals to celebrate his annual star-studded birthday, Sammy Hager admitted to being “disastrous” with the death of the 65-year-old guitarist on October 6.
Recalling his feelings about the news of Van Halen’s death, Hagar says, “For Mike and I, it was like being hit by a freaking Mac truck. It kind of blew out. All I want to say is that I am a kind of catastrophe. Singing and playing the Van Whelan song has never been so difficult in my life. “
“It was difficult,” Michael Anthony agrees. “It simply came to our notice then. It’s not sunk yet. “
“What I especially felt about playing a song like ‘Right Now’ is so timeless, and I thought, ‘Wow, thank God for this.'” Hagar continues. “We’ll never play it with Eddie again, but thank God for this.”
“We have music,” says Anthony. ‘I will sing as long as I live. ”
Concluding the message, Michael Anthony said, “We love you Eddie”, rehearsing with The Circle just before cutting thousands and footage of Anthony, before the audience requested a moment of silence for EVH.
Hager recently revealed that he and Van Halen have reconciled and reconciled their past conflicts in recent months, but have chosen to keep the renewal of their friendship out of public view.
“Eddie and I were texting, and it’s been a love fest since we started the conversation earlier this year,” Hajar said in a note to The Howard Stern Show. “We both agreed not to tell anyone, because of all the rumors it would provoke about a reunion, at Setera, and we both knew it wasn’t going to happen.”
As soon as news of Van Halen’s passing was reported on October 6, Hager posted a photo of himself and the guitarist on a private jet with the caption “Hearty and speechless.”
Many of Eddie Van Helen’s friends, including his friends Tony Iommi, Brian May and Angus Young, finally paid their own tribute to the guitarist.
