Maddie Scherr has been winning awards throughout her impressive high school basketball career. She has already claimed the most highest honors in the sport, earning a final cherry on top on Sunday night: Miss Kentucky Basketball. Outstanding Ryle High School Named Best Woman in State in Virtual Ceremony, presented by WKYT Sports Director Brian Milam and Christi Thomas of UK Sports Network
Scherr was surprised at home with his trophy and a new shirt.
Scherr was unable to fully finish his senior season due to the coronavirus pandemic, but that did not stop him from breaking records and earning praise at the state and even national level. The Oregon Engagement is the first McDonald’s All-American in Northern Kentucky, twice awarded the Gatorade’s Kentucky Girls Player of the Year Award, and the current Ninth Region Player of the Year (which made her eligible for the now-canceled Kentucky. -Indiana All -Star games). Scherr also led the statewide vote in coach surveys conducted by the Louisville Courier-Journal and the Lexington Herald-Leader.
She announced her commitment to Oregon in May 2019. Los Patos, home to last year’s National Player of the Year, Sabrina Ionescu, is once again a National Championship competitor this season. They have the nation’s top inbound recruiting class. Scherr is currently listed as the 19th player in class 2020, according to ESPN.

During his senior season with the Raiders, Scherr averaged 14.9 points, 7.3 rebounds, 5.7 assists, 2.9 steals and 1.8 blocks per game and had Ryle again in the state tournament for the third consecutive year. She owns the school records in total points (2,297), rebounds (1,094), assists (679), steals (535) and blocks (233). Scherr was also named the Most Valuable Player in the 2019 state tournament after leading her team to her first state championship that year.
Sacred heart Ireland Toller – a kentucky engagement – He was also in the mix for the prestigious award. Toller missed two seasons due to knee injuries before averaging 16.8 points and 5.5 rebounds for the Valkyries 25-1 in his senior year. She will stay at Bluegrass to dress in blue and white next season.
