It is, of course, a stereotype that all Canadians are friendly. They are not, in fact, a nation made up entirely of friendly Mounties; Canadians also have bad days. This writer can confirm that there are at least two Canadian buttholes in total (there is the thief, assuming that person is Canadian, and then there is another person, you know who you are, Luke.) But this story is nice and it involves several Canadians being kind, so let’s lean on it, okay? For the purposes of this story about Ryan Reynolds and a teddy bear, all Canadians are pure beings of light.
The first nice Canadian is Deborah Goble, a CBC reporter:
Goble has been in the case of Mara’s missing teddy bear, a Build-A-Bear that contains a recording of her late mother’s voice saying that she loves and is proud of her, since Saturday. This initial signal boost went viral; Since Goble shared it, the bear’s owner has received various tips from Internet residents, has received assistance from the Vancouver Police Department, and will at least receive a replacement for her Herschel backpack. There is no bear yet, but at least there is a chance that such an irreplaceable gift could be found. (It was also stolen while she was MovingWhich is just … way to make a shitty day worse.)
AND Yes is found (or, ah, returned), Canadian-American gin magnate Ryan Reynolds will give the person who found it $ 5,000.
The husband of A simple favorBlake Lively is right; U.S do I need this bear to go home. Reynolds’ tweet prompted others to join the chorus, including his Canadian partner. Dan levy and not Canadian but kind offeel-Canadian Zach Braff.
One hopes that we can eventually update this story with the safe return of the bear, but for now, we will all have to live with uncertainty, the 2020 of everything, you might say. But before leaving to comb Vancouver’s roads and paths, two more things. First off, Reynolds seems to have recognized Goble’s kindness too and has promised to send him some gin if the bear is found:
