The “Deadpool” star joined the fight after the stuffed animal was stolen, along with an iPad inside a backpack, somewhere in Vancouver’s West End neighborhood.
Ryan Reynolds It does a lot of silly things with its massive platform, but it also steps forward to use it forever when it can. On Saturday, she decided to lend her considerable voice on social media to search for a lost bear with real personal meaning.
Reynolds learned of the bear, which had been stolen from a backpack next to an iPad in Vancouver’s West End neighborhood, when a CBC reporter tweeted a photo of the stuffed animal with a heartbreaking message.

“Mara, the owner says that she has her mother’s voice inside saying: ‘I love you, I am proud of you, I will always be with you,'” wrote Deborah Goble. “Her mother died last year.”
A young woman named Mara Soriano responded to Goble’s post with a picture of her in a hospice with her mother, asking that the bear be returned or that someone with information email her findmamabearyvr. [at] gmail.com.
Vancouver: $ 5,000 for anyone who returns this bear to Mara. Zero questions asked. I think we all need this bear to go home. https://t.co/L4teoxoY50

Soriano’s post was shared 675 times as of this writing, with 6.6k cardiac reactions. Goble reached 22k shares, with 39.2k heart reactions. Reynolds outshone them both, sharing his bigger story than ever with 76.7k actions and 266.7k heart reactions.
“$ 5,000 for anyone who returns this bear to Mara. Zero questions,” Reynolds wrote. “I think we all need this bear to go home.”
When a troll responded to Reynolds’ post that Soriano should have taken better care of him if it meant so much to her, she jumped in to respond.
You’re right, I’ve been kicking myself so hard for letting my guard down for a moment. But I got a call that a very good friend was hit by a car on his way to help us, so I panicked, didn’t know the seriousness of his situation and dropped everything to get there as soon as possible.

“You’re right, I’ve been kicking myself really hard for letting my guard down even for a moment,” he tweeted. “But I got a call that a very good friend was hit by a car on his way to help us, so I panicked, didn’t know the seriousness of his situation, and gave up everything to get to him as soon as possible.”
Soriano thanked Reynolds for sharing his story and has spent much of the day on Sunday updating his followers on Twitter with the ongoing investigation into his missing bear after the Vancouver police got involved, retweet Goble’s post too.

Surprisingly, Soriano has surveillance footage of two nearby restaurants that allegedly show the suspect with his bag. He has traced the path that the suspect shows through an alley, although unfortunately with his hat on and his head down, it is impossible to identify the individual.
However, it is surprising how quickly the response has been, since the search for this lost bear with such significant personal meaning for Soriano is being taken very seriously north of the border.
Now, with Reynolds’ added financial incentive, maybe this video will help Soriano and the Vancouver Police Department get more leads on the thief’s identity and maybe get the bear back.
