Conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh reacted Wednesday to a report that some labs in Florida do not report the number of people who tested negative for the coronavirus, describing such practices as “incompetence” or “corruption.”

The Palm Beach Post reported Wednesday that more than 300 laboratories reporting 100 percent positive rates performed five or fewer tests. However, the document continued, approximately 125 additional laboratories that reported the results of between five and 460 tests also reported that 100 percent of their samples tested positive. In all, the newspaper reported, the labs in question processed a small fraction of the positive test results from the state.
“Is the incompetence so deep? Is it so rampant? Or is it corruption?” Limbaugh asked. “The inflated numbers occur when Florida has … record numbers of COVID-19 infections.”

The issue of Florida’s coronavirus spike was raised Wednesday when Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf announced new restrictions on bars and nightclubs where food is not served.
At a joint press conference with Wolf announcing the restrictions, the state’s Secretary of Health, Rachel Levine, described Florida as “what happens when no mitigation efforts are made and the virus is basically allowed to burn.”
“I just want to contrast the efforts that Governor Wolf’s leadership is bringing … to Florida,” he said. “[There were more than] 15,000 cases on Saturday … about 10,000 today … We can’t be Florida. “
