Royana Black, Broadway and ‘Raising Miranda’ star die at 47


Broadway star and sitcom Royana Black died at age 47 after her battle with acute myeloid leukemia. The Los Angeles-based actress died on July 14, and a GoFundMe page created in honor of her husband John Hubbell says she died “very suddenly.”

Royana landed a Broadway role in Neil Simon Brighton Beach Memories at the age of 10 years. She also played the lead role in the short-lived comedy, Raising Miranda in 1988. She has had guest roles in The Cosby Show, Touched By An Angel, and Medium.

According to her family’s obituary, Royana also had her own theater company where she directed and performed.

She is survived by her husband, John Paul Hubbell.

His family has asked that donations be made to the Leukemia Fund in his memory. There is also a GoFundMe page created to help her husband, who has more than doubled his goal of $ 25,000.
