Rookies remain active as exercise intensity increases

Friday’s uptick in competition was a welcome sign for anyone approaching real football.

“Today was the first day you actually ran into another person and they were covered and there are balls thrown and everything,” Jason McCourty said. “So I think there’s going to be a lot of growth and this is the starting point.”

“We’re about as far as we can go in terms of throughput and conversations and communication and all that, but the speed of the game after the snap and what happens once everyone starts moving – we’ve seen some of that at a slow pace and could coach it to a certain degree, but certainly not as the way it will really happen, “said Belichick.

With one more practice plan for Sunday, the Pats will then throw the pads on Monday as things will look a lot more like at the training camp we know and hold. Until now, Belichick was happy with how things exploded.

“I think this is a good plan. I think it works and we have made progress towards this point,” said the head coach. “We’ve had to deal with a number of changes and adjustments, but it’s likely to be so for so long. I think we’re used to this.”

Before things get too physical, McCourty just enjoyed the chance to be back on the field to compete with, something that will ratchet up a lot in the coming days.

“This stage is just a lot of fun,” McCourty said. “This is when it’s most exciting. You’re excited to go out and compete with your boys on your side of the ball, to compete against the boys on the other side. We’re not in you yet. dog days of camp. At the moment, it’s just a lot of fun to get out and compete. “
