Ron Roenicke discovers why Rafael Devers is not in Red Sox Lineup Vs. Rays | Boston Red Sox

When the Boston Red Sox released their lineup prior to their game against the Tampa Bay Rays, a notable name was missing.

Rafael Devers was just one day absent from the top nine after hitting an absolute moonshot to ban the game in Boston’s final 5-3 walk-off win over the Toronto Blue Jays.

It certainly raised a lot of questions, especially with the Rays coming to town. But manager Ron Roenicke revealed that the third baseman’s ankle is “a bit iffy” after lunging at the first baseman in Sunday’s win, but he may be available from the bench if necessary.

“It’s not bad boredom or anything,” Roenicke told reporters during his prestigious Zoom press conference. “Just to make sure there are no swellings on it.”

NBC10 Boston’s Raul Martinez posted a video of Devers in a walk prior to the game.

Hopefully it’s just a little slick and Devers will not be sidelined for long.
