Rocksteady has issued an official response to allegations of harassment in the workplace.
According to Rocksteady, since the initial letter of 2018 regarding harassment of female employees was received, it has dealt with the issues that have been raised.
Rocksteady states that in response to the initial communication, it met with female staff and “dealt with the issues raised.”
“All formal complaints were thoroughly investigated, appropriately addressed and a number of serious measures were taken in response to the issues that arose, including discipline or termination of staff,” the statement read.
Since the issues were brought to light, it has implemented ways to ensure that it ‘does well’ on the ‘promise of inclusion’, as female staff members ask for feedback on the image and behavior of characters in the games develops.
It was also stated in the official response that the company warns it is working to increase the ways it can support everyone.
“We want to know if there are any issues that have not been addressed through our formal channels so that we can address them. As such, we have used the services of an independent third party to chat confidentially with all Rocksteady employees who wish to do so. We will also reach out to any former female employee who has left in the past 2 years to ask them to speak to the interviewers. “
The studio also reiterated the letter it posted earlier in the week was not an official response.
Here is the full explanation of the studio that was posted on Twitter (tank, Blue).
Earlier this week, Batman developer Rocksteady Studios was accused of ignoring bullying in the workplace. According to a report by The Guardian, female employees at Rocksteady sent a letter to company bosses two years ago with indications of adverse behavior and sexual harassment.
The letter was issued in 2018, and 10 of the 16 female employees signed it. According to the report, one of the women came forward because of what she felt was the lack of response from Rocksteady. She stated that it was through her that employees felt she was still suffering from sexism, harassment, and unfavorable behavior.
Rocksteady responded, unofficially, by posting the above unsolicited letter it received from female employees regarding the Guardian’s report. It was sent by seven of the female Rocksteady employees who signed the initial letter of 2018, stating that all issues were addressed immediately, and not two years later as the Guardian report claimed.
Today, during a DC FanDome panel, the studio will unveil its new game in the works, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.
