Robert Downey Jr. and Tom Holland have teamed up with their “Avengers” castmates to speak to 6-year-old Bridger Walker, who saved his younger sister from an attacking dog on July 9.
Bridger’s aunt Nicole Noel Walker first caught the eye of “Captain America” actor Chris Evans with an Instagram post on July 12, tagging multiple actors in “The Avengers.” Walker asked them to offer words of encouragement to Bridger, who suffered several bites on his head and required 90 stitches after protecting his younger sister.
Since then, Walker has documented every conversation between celebrities and Bridger through social media. On July 16, Walker shared that Evans had sent Bridger a video message in which he promised to give him a true Captain America shield, and now Downey Jr. and Holland have followed suit.
In a video message to Bridger, Downey Jr., who plays Iron Man, attempted to pass out Evans’ gift.
“Bridger, you’re a rock star,” said Downey Jr. “I hear [Captain America] sent a shield in your direction. I’m going to make a better one, call me on your next birthday. I have something special for you.
“Spider-Man” star Tom Holland jumped into a video call with Bridger, who dressed in Spidey’s outfit.
“I mean, you’re so brave, man,” said Holland. “We are all very proud of you, and your little sister is very lucky to have someone like you.”
Holland then invited Bridger to come on set during the filming of the upcoming “Spider-Man” movie.
“We are going to film ‘Spider-Man 3’ and if you ever want to come settle down and hang out and get up close and personal with the Spider-Man suit, you’re always welcome,” Holland said.
Mark Ruffalo, Brie Larson, Robbie Amell, and Grant Gustin also commented on Walker’s original post, praising Bridger’s bravery and calling him a true superhero.
“People who put the welfare of others first are the most heroic and thoughtful people I know. I really respect and admire your courage and your heart, ”Ruffalo wrote. “True courage is not dominating people or fighting them or walking like a tough guy. The true courage is knowing what is right to do and doing it even when you may end up hurting him in some way. You are more man than many, many that I have seen or known.
