Riverside County set a new record for hospital patients with intensive care coronavirus, the Monday, July 13 update shows.
As of Monday, 139 patients with COVID-19 were in the ICU, compared to 116 in the Friday, July 10 update posted on the county’s public health website. Total hospitalizations fell from 528 on Friday to 513 on Sunday, July 12, according to the California Department of Public Health.
The county was using 100% of its licensed beds in the ICU on Friday, forcing hospitals to convert regular beds to ICU beds to compensate. Utilization of authorized ICU beds fell to 95.6% on Saturday, according to the county, and COVID-19 patients accounted for about a third of ICU-authorized beds.
Of the 509 coronavirus patients at Riverside County hospitals on Saturday, seven were inmates of state prisons and four were from Imperial County.

Cases: 25,748, compared to 24,765 cases on Friday
Deceased: 550, compared to 537 Friday
Hospitalizations: 513, down from 528 on Friday; Suspicious patients: 122, below 162 Friday (last state update on Sunday)
Intensive care patients: 139, compared to 116 on Friday; Suspicious patients: Nine, below Friday the 15th (Last updated by the state on Sunday)
Recoveries: 9,711, compared to 9,367 Friday
Long-term care facilities (includes nursing homes): Residents: 1,328, unchanged as of Friday, according to county; Deaths: 146, from 141 to Tuesday, depending on the state; Employees: 821 as of Monday, according to the county.
Tests carried out: 289,362, compared to 272,981 Friday
