Police eventually declared an uprising shortly after 1 a.m. and moved the public away from the area. One officer received a laceration to her leg, and the ankle of another officer was spread. Other officers have various “bumps and bruises.”

Saturday morning’s protest was the latest in a string of demonstrations that have taken place since the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis in May. Many of the protests have remained peaceful, but national attention has been focused on Portland after videos appeared of protesters being held by federal lawmakers in unmarked vans, resulting in protests swelling in size and intensity.
Protesters also clashed with federal agents outside a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) building in Portland on Thursday night through Friday, according to The Associated Press. Last weekend, a rape was also declared in the city.
