Rickey Smiley’s daughter shot multiple times in Houston

The daughter of comedian and radio host Rickey Smiley was shot multiple times Sunday night in Houston.

Smiley, via social media, said her daughter Aaryn was injured when she was searching for food on Whataburger around midnight. “She was at a stoplight and some guys got out of the car and shot each other and she was hit twice,” Smiley said in one of several videos she posted Monday. “My daughter did not deserve to become a shooting victim, but thank God for protecting her.”

Smiley announced the shooting on the Rickey Smiley Morning Show, saying he had been shot at least twice and possibly three times. “I am so angry right now,” Smiley said. “I woke up with text messages. He’s crying, he’s scared … and I can’t get to him. “

Smiley, who is from Birmingham, was able to take a flight to Houston later in the day, according to his manager. Starting at 3:30 p.m. M., He published that his daughter was not in surgery and was recovering.

Repeated efforts to contact Houston police officers for comment were unsuccessful, but ABC13 in Houston was told the shooting was due to an altercation. During the altercation, a black Infiniti was in a red light when the suspect stopped and opened fire.

Three people inside the Infiniti went to a hospital for help. A spectator was also injured. It was not immediately clear if Smiley’s daughter was the spectator or was inside Infiniti.
