The New York Mets went a few steps ahead of tonight’s match against the Baltimore Real at Camden Yards.
The recently acquired Ariel Jurado has been recalled from the Brooklyn team’s alternate training site and the right-hander will start tonight and enter his mats.
The former top prospect, the Mets acquired Jurado from the Texas Rangers last month, will later change a player’s name and consider cash matters.
Jurado made his major league debut in 2018, with a 5.93 ERA, a 5.01 FIP and a 1.54 WIP in 12 appearances, including eight starts of 1.5 appearances.
Last season saw no improvement for Jurado, with 32 total appearances, posting 5.81 ERA and 5.10 FIP at the start of the 18th. He was appointed for assignment and in 2020 it is still pending.
To make room for Jurado, RHP Hunter Strickland has been assigned to the assignment and infielder Eduardo Nez has been transferred to the 45-day injured list.
In other news, RHP Walter Lockett was claimed to have been pardoned by Season Miners after being appointed by the Mets.
Also, Todd Frazier, Robinson Chirinoz and Miguel Castro are not expected to be active for the Mets today. They were acquired before yesterday’s trading deadline.
