This will start shipping in June and the SUV in August. Those who have pre-ordered can start configuring their EVs from November 16th, and the rest from November 23rd.
Both launch versions will have a 300-mile range, although Revian says a 400-mile battery pack will be available for the R1T in January 2022. The company is also working on a version of the R1S which has a longer range and five- and seven-passenger seating, as Edge Notes. Details on it will be available after the start of production. In addition, the car also has a cheaper version of both vehicles with a range of 250 miles.
Meanwhile, Rivian revealed details of the driver assistance facility, which includes all its vehicles as standard. The Revion Driver + system will initially only work on certain highways, and over-the-air updates will expand the range of functions and roads on which you can use it.
According to Revian, the vehicle will “automatically drive, adjust speed and change lanes at your command”. However, the company stressed that Driver + is not a self-driving system. He says you have to keep your focus on the road and avoid using handheld devices when you are at the wheel.
Last month, Rivian and Amazon (which invested in the EV startup in 2019) announced the electric delivery van that they developed together. Amazon ordered 100,000 electric vehicles from the company last year.
