Authorities say a Minnesota man was cutting down a tree behind his home when one trapped him four days down.
Wood, Jonathan Seplecha of the year, received a 911 call Monday through the Redwood County Sheriff’s Office Fees about a man hanging under a tree, the department said in a Facebook post. Seplecha was trapped from 27 Thursday gust, Thursday.
His son, Miles Seplecha, wrote in a GoFundMe that the 59-year-old was on a hill in the woods behind his home in Redwood Falls, about 120 miles west of Midnapore, when he fell while an oak tree fell on him.
“In the second part, due to a freak accident, both his legs were suddenly knocked down under an immovable log and his upper torso became semicircular as he sat upright on the ground,” his son wrote. “His legs were immediately broken and he was very sad, but, he had no phone and since he was alone, there was no one to hear or see him.”
According to Miles, Jonathan survived by eating plants and insects and drinking his sweat and rainwater.
“He maintained his sanity by breaking into hours every day and 5 minutes each hour. As a man of great faith, he always prayed to himself, and tried to distract himself from the panic by paying attention and finding the rhythm,” Gofandme said.
Family members became concerned when Jonathan was not answering their phone calls and not showing up for work. Jonathan’s ex-wife found him on his property and contacted the sheriff’s office.
Authorities took Jonathan about two hours to get out from under a tree. He is now recovering in hospital.
“I’m still in shock,” Miles Seplecha told NBC-affiliated Karen in Minneapolis. “We’re all still shocked that he’s alive and he was out of there himself.”
The sheriff’s fictional chief deputy, Mark Farasin, said he was surprised that one P Jonathan survived.
“He wanted to stay, and he wasn’t ready to go,” Farasin said at the outlet. “I don’t know many people who can survive such a fiery test.”
