The season was originally scheduled to begin on November 10, but was postponed due to a coronavirus epidemic.
Under the alleged finale of the start date, there are key questions to be answered as the game has been attempted to bounce back since the 2020 NCAA tournament was canceled in March due to the Kuvid-19 epidemic.
The two Power Five conferences that delayed their football season, the Pack-12 and the Big Ten, are not committed to starting basketball on time. Schools of mid-main conferences can fight for economic viability without games against top-level opponents, according to ESPN Myron Medcalf.
A non-Power Five school coach told MedCalph that it would be “impossible” to schedule and play the basketball league season right now due to financial concerns.
The uncertainty with Pack-12 and the Big Ten, along with questions about conferences outside of Power Five – which represent the majority of the 350-plus Division I basketball programs – will need to be resolved in the next two months.
