This offseason separated the Falcons from Atlanta ways with Pro Bowl tight end Austin Hooper coming off the best season in his young NFL career. Also this offseason, the team parted ways with another tight end in Luke Stocker, who may be making his return to Atlanta.
Apparently, Stocker is expected to sign after his visit, though nothing is official yet.
Although a signing has not yet happened, it is entirely possible thanks to offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter and quarterback Matt Ryan’s familiarity with the 9-year veteran’s tight end. Before playing for the Falcons in 2019, Stocker spent nearly seven seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and a little more than one season with the Tennessee Titans.
Overall, Stocker has a reputation as a proven, solid blocker and sometimes pass catcher. Behind the start of tight end Hayden Hurst, the Falcons really have no veterans, with the most accomplished Khari Lee having recorded just two catches in 34 career games.
The Falcons released Stocker in mid-March of this year, freeing up $ 2.6 million in cap space. If he finishes re-signing with the Falcons, we’ll be sure to let you know.
