The Detroit Lions have placed a sixth player on their reserve / COVID-19 list. According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, cornerback Justin Coleman has tested positive for the coronavirus. According to the report, Coleman had a negative test after the first round of tests on Tuesday. However, Wednesday’s sample was positive. According to Dave Birkett of Detroit Free Press, Coleman is asymptomatic, “feels great” and expects a false positive.
Under current NFL protocol, Coleman will have to stay away for five days and pass two consecutive COVID-19 tests before returning. However, if you develop symptoms, you will have to wait at least 10 days from the first signs of symptoms and an additional three days after symptoms disappear.
Coleman joins TJ Hockenson, Kenny Golladay, Jalen Elliott, Amani Oruwariye and Arryn Siposs on the Lions / COVID-19 reserve list. Of those five additional players, only Siposs was reported positive, but he is also asymptomatic. A player may also be on the reserve / COVID-19 list if they have come into close contact with someone who has been infected.
