ACC is inside. The SEC is inside. The Big 10 may be out.
Through Pat Forde of SI.com, Big 10 has informed its members that the league may not be playing soccer games this fall.
A decision is expected to be made on whether to start training camp on time in the next five days. Forde describes it as a “fluid situation”.
Frankly, it appears that the ACC and the SEC have opted for a damn torpedo approach, while the Big 10 move more cautiously. College football in the current pandemic raises many questions about, for example, whether it is appropriate to add the risk of contracting and / or transmitting the virus to family members to unpaid players, and whether it is appropriate to use testing resources that could be used by local citizens.
On the question of college football, the question arises whether the traditional university model of in-person classes and on-campus residence should even be pursued in the current climate, given the reality that young people can easily find a supposed semi-voice.
