Remedy Entertainment has announced that work is underway on a new game set in the same world as Control and Alan Wake.
Following Thursday’s PlayStation presentation announcing the return of Alan Wake in control of Control’s AWE expansion, Remedy creative director Sam Lake has unveiled a bigger play that will tie more of the studio’s games in what is officially called “the Remedy Connected Universe.” The Control Alan Awake expansion is the first step in establishing one interconnected world, but Lake also confirmed that a new game in development is set in the same universe.
“What happened in Alan Wake in 2010 is one of the cases that the Federal Bureau of Control has investigated. The AWE expansion is the first official Remover Connected Universe crossover event, bringing more Alan Wake-lore into Control,” he said. Lake. “And this is just a humble start. We are already working hard on a future Remedy game that will also take place in this same universe.”
Control’s AWE DLC will show Jesse Faden researching the Old House research sector to learn more about paranatural events called Altered World Events (AWE). You can access the DLC once you have removed the seventh main mission of Control’s campaign, at which point you will enter the research sector and finally be confronted with a nasty prospect that lurks there.
How this all relates to the story of Alan Wake’s disappearance is unclear, but we do not have to find out for long – the second expansion of Control will release on August 27 on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Given the timing, it is inevitable that the next game in the Remedy Connected Universe will be a release of the next-gen.
