Regis Philbin’s family reveals he is now buried at the University of Notre Dame de Alma Mater after a private funeral at his Basilica of the Sacred Heart
Regis Philbin, who died last week at age 88, was buried at the University of Notre Dame, his alma mater.
The television presenter was buried after a private funeral at the university, a school spokesman said.
The Philbin memorial took place in the school’s Sacred Heart Basilica and was buried in the Cedar Grove Cemetery on campus.

“The Philbin family wanted to bring Regis back to the place he loved so much for a funeral and private burial,” school spokesman Dennis Brown said in an email.
“That happened on Wednesday and now rest in peace at Notre Dame.”
The brilliant television presenter and personality graduated from Catholic University in 1953 and was an enthusiastic student.
He frequently returned to the South Bend, Indiana campus for soccer games, rallies, banquets, concerts and other events, the South Bend Tribune reported.

In 2001, Live With Regis And presenter Kathy Lee donated $ 2.75 million to the school to create the Philbin Studio Theater.
Located in the DeBartolo Performing Arts Center, the black box enclosure was intended for laboratory productions and performing arts.
School president Reverend John Jenkins praised Philbin for his commitment to the school in a statement this week.
“Regis made millions on the air over the years, often sharing a passionate love for his alma mater with viewers,” said Jenkins.

Phibin died of natural causes on July 24, just over a month before his 89th birthday.
He retired in 2011 after a long television career that included hosting Live! with Regis and Kathie Lee from 1985-2000, with co-host Kathie Lee Gifford, and Live! with Regis and Kelly, with Kelly Ripa, from 2001 until her retirement.
He had also hosted the game show Who wants to be a millionaire.
