Regal Cinemas establishes reopening in mid-August in time for the launch of Labor Day weekend ‘Tenet’ – Deadline

EXCLUSIVE: We just heard that Cineworld, in response to recent changes in theatrical release schedule with Beginning, is reopening its American Regal circuit on August 21.

“Welcoming viewers to our theaters will be a celebration not only for our team and our industry, but more importantly for fans who have been eagerly awaiting the upcoming releases of the year,” said Mooky Greidinger, CEO of Cineworld. “With the health and safety of our staff, customers and communities as our top priority, we are pleased to invite the public to return to the timeless theatrical experience that we have all missed.”

Regal Theaters will apply previously announced health and safety measures that adhere to the latest CDC and public health guidelines, which include innovative disinfection procedures, new social distancing protocols, and mandatory mask policies for their employees and guests.

Regal closed theaters across the country on March 17, when the pandemic was beginning to take over the US Regal is the second-largest retail chain in the country, with 7,155 screens in 542 theaters in 42 states, and was the first big chain out of top 3 to close.
