Of the many surprises and snubs from this year’s Emmy nominationsReese Witherspoon’s omission was one of the most obvious.
Apple TV + “The Morning Show” garnered eight nominations (including co-star Jennifer Aniston), while HBO’s “Big Little Lies” and Hulu’s “Little Fires Everywhere” garnered five (including for co-stars Nicole Kidman of “Lies” and Kerry Washington from “Fires”).
But Witherspoon was not recognized for any of her performances on all three shows. (However, not everything is pessimism: she also works as an executive producer in all three).
“What an incredible honor!” Witherspoon tweeted Tuesday morning, celebrating the projects’ 18 collective nominations. “I am so proud of our team that works tirelessly behind the scenes to bring these stories to life! BRAVO to the cast and crew. “
The silver lining is that some fans turned to Twitter to cope, using memes from their trio of acclaimed projects. May we all heal from the pain of Reese’s triple snub with a little laugh.
