Following a reported positive test by the Reds player on Friday, which came after the team played the Pirates on Friday, MLB closed out the entire weekend of the series between the Reds and Pirates to put extra effort into testing and contact to follow. I’m good! As we saw with the Marlins and Cardinals, it is almost impossible to be too aggressive in response to a positive COVID-19 test.
As far as we heard this weekend, there have been (yet?) No additional positive tests on the Reds or, for that matter, on the Pirates. But despite that, MLB is planning to take another day, and Reds / Pirates makeup game (s) are not planned for the shared off-day tomorrow. It is not clear why:
Pirates will not play their postponed games against the Reds tomorrow, a mutual off-day. Not sure why at this point, but they have another trip to Cincinnati planned for September 14-16.
They will return to action against Cleveland at PNC Park on Tuesday night, as planned.

Shelton, on why they will not play tomorrow: “Major League Baseball has protocol-wise decided that they do not want us to play on Monday. What happens in that decision happens much higher than me. They have just informed us that we will not play on Monday. play, and we’ll plan again. “

Hopefully it’s just an abundance of caution, and not a matter of what appears to be the case today (but not yet announced).
Now add two games to the Reds ‘and Pirates’ schedules that need to be created, which has affected the schedule of every team in NL Central now in some way due to a COVID-related shutdown.
