Almost four months have passed since Inside Carolina last reviewed North Carolina’s 2020 football calendar. The panorama of university soccer looks very different from that of April.
In our latest game rankings, the top two places were occupied by Central Florida and Auburn. With the new Atlanta Coast Conference schedule lineup of 10 conference games and one non-conference game, we shouldn’t expect any of them to be on the Tar Heels game list. The only opponent who does not belong to the conference is unknown at this time, but we know that that game must be played within the state’s borders.
More changes include removing Georgia Tech and Pittsburgh from the calendar as ACC eliminated the division game for the 2020 season. UNC adds home games against Syracuse, Wake Forest, Notre Dame (full and honorary member of ACC for 2020), and a road game against the state of Florida.
Carolina’s local / visiting hours are divided as follows:
Home: North Carolina State, Notre Dame, Syracuse, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest
Far: Boston College, Duke, State of Florida, Miami, Virginia.
The season is slated to begin the week of September 7 and all 11 games will be played over a 13 week span with two open dates. The top two teams based on the conference game winning percentage will fight in the ACC Championship game in December.
Below are the 10 games from the UNC conference, ranked from what we hope will be the easiest to the most challenging for the Tar Heels.
