Rayshard Brooks‘widow can no longer be grateful for LeBron James and the rest of the NBA is taking a stand with its boycott … and she’s hoping real change is on the way.
Tomika Miller tells TMZ … they beamed with pride after the Lakers and the rest of the NBA teams decided to boycott Wednesday’s playoff games to draw attention to police brutality following the shooting fan Jacob Blake and the 17-year-old who presumably shot and killed 2 Protestants in Kenosha, WI.
Tomika says that there is a big difference between them taking a stand against their workplace of the NBA – and several MLB, WNBA and MLS teams in that regard – boycotted games. The size of the platform is important, and she says it brings a bigger spotlight on the situation of Black Americans.
Tomika said that the actions of the players make people like them know that the “little people” are not forgotten by the privileged. As you now know, Tomika’s husband was Rayshard shot in the back and killed in June after police found him asleep at a wheel in Atlanta.
When officers tried to handcuff him, a fight ensued – Brooks grabbed an officer’s taser and ran before being shot three times in the back. Making matters worse … the family lawyer says police waited more than 2 minutes to check on Brooks himself if he ever was.

Blake was also shot in the back … 7 times on point-blank range by Kenosha, WI police officer Rusten Sheskey.
Brooks’ family lawyers, Christopher Stewart en Ryan Julison, agrees with Tomika and believes that the pro-athlete protests and boycotts will bring about rapid change because, unfortunately, money laundering.
