Ravens v. Texans’ final score: Strong defense, Baltimore’s way to running game victory

An impressive defensive effort, with an equally impressive running back performance, led the Ravens to a 33-16 win over the Texans on Sunday. In the Baltimore defense, Desan Watson was forced out of the job four times during a while while a turnover spell was forced, while a Lamar Jackson-led Ravens offense ran 230 yards for 37 carry.

The Ravens took a 20-10 halftime lead in the locker room due to touchdowns on both offense and defense. Following the upheaval by the Texans, the Ravens added to their main moments after a Justin Tucker field goal, in which Lamar Jackson knocked out Patrick Ricard from outside the yard. Houston quickly reacted with his first score, with Brandon Cooks’ 38-yard touchdown pass to Dashen Watson’s 10-yard touchdown pass to Darren Flsls.

A 26-yard finish from Jackson to Marquis Brown scored Tucker’s second field goal. Baltimore extended their lead to 20-7 after LTJ Fort returned 22 yards of volatility for a score. Marlon Humphrey, a pro-cornbuck, made a fuss. Moments of Marcus Peters’ hiccups later put Baltimore in a position to add to his lead before halftime, but the Texans, including JJ Watt’s second half bag, were forced to pont continuously by the Texans. The stop helped Kamimi Fairburn’s 44-yard field goal before halftime.

Baltimore started the second half with an eight-minute, 36-second drive that ended with a 47-yard field goal by Tucker. Two third-down conversions, including a 13-yard finish from Jackson to Jack Dobbins, set the score. Houston reacted to his forward possession, as Fairburn’s 35-yard field goal came from a 24-yard catch by Brandon Cooks. While the Texans struggled to find salary dirt, Ravens had no such problem. It was clear on Baltimore’s next possession, Mark Ingram took a quick snap on the fourth-and-1 and bolted the 30-yard to make it 30-13 game.

The Texans entered the scoring range before Watson’s bag forced Houston to settle for a second field goal. Baltimore, on a 71-yard drive with 13 runs, reacted with another field goal by Tucker. On his next drive, Houston’s three-outs sealed Jackson’s 21st win, as did the Ravens’ opening quarterback.
